Meredith Cole, April Henry, Lee Hollis, Barbara Neely, Nicola Upson, and Lis Wiehl : New Authors to the Cozy Mystery Site

April 22, 2012

I have added six new authors to the Cozy Mystery site. These authors have all been recommended by some of you who think they would make good additions to the site.

Meredith Cole: Lydia McKenzie Mystery Series
Cole’s first book in the Lydia McKenzie Mystery Series was nominated for the prestigious Agatha Award. Lydia (main sleuth) is a New York photographer who replicates crime scenes so well in her photographs that it makes it look like she could somehow by involved in the crimes.

April Henry: Claire Montrose Mystery Series, Triple Threat Club Mystery Series, and Young Adult Stand Alone Mysteries
Henry’s first Claire Montrose mystery was nominated for the esteemed  Agatha Award for Best First Novel. She currently is co-authoring the Triple Threat Club Mystery Series with Lis Wiehl.

Lee Hollis: Hailey Powell Food & Cocktail Mystery Series
Lee Hollis is a pseudonym for brother (Rick Cop) and sister (Holly Simason). Rick wrote for several smash hit sitcoms (among them, Golden Girls and Wings) and Holly writes a cooking column in a newspaper. Together they write the Hailey Powell Food & Cocktail Mystery Series, which features a sleuth who is a newspaper “manager” and cooking column writer.

Barbara Neely: Blanche White Mystery Series
Neely’s first Blanche White mystery won the honored Agatha Award and Anthony Award for Best First Novel. The sleuth, Blanche, is an African American woman who works as a housekeeper.

Nicola Upson: Josephine Tey Mystery Series
As many of you know, Josephine Tey was the Scottish author of the Scotland Yard Inspector Grant Mysteries. Upson writes this mystery series, focusing on Tey as the 1930s London sleuth. (Upson “read English” at the University of Cambridge.)

Lis Wiehl: Triple Threat Club Mystery Series and East Salem Trilogy
Wiehl, a Harvard-educated lawyer (with her M.A. in Literature) writes the Triple Threat Club Mystery Series (with April Henry) and she also co-authors the East Salem Trilogy with Pete Nelson. the Triple Threat Club series features three women (a reporter, a prosecutor, and an FBI Agent) who pool all of their resources to solve crimes.

Tasha Alexander, Joan Blacher, Christy Fifield, & Janice Hamrick : the Four Newest Additions to the Cozy Mystery Site

March 6, 2012

I know I have really been bad about adding new authors to the Cozy Mystery site. I am (again!) going to try to get more of them posted. I mean, if you all are recommending mystery authors you think belong on the site, then I really should get them posted!

Here are the four newest additions of mystery authors to the Cozy Mystery site:

Tasha Alexander   Alexander writes an historical mystery series which is set in Victorian London: the Lady Emily Mystery Series. Lady Emily is a young widow of a viscount. (Alexander has her B.S. in English/Medieval Studies, which obviously helps a lot when writing an historical series.)

Joan Blacher    Blacher is a psychotherapist who worked as both a professor and counselor at the university level. She writes the Ardis  Jensen Mystery Series, which features a counselor at a university who used to be a forensic psychologist.

Christy Fifield (aka Christy Evans & Christina F. York)   Fifield writes the Haunted Souvenir Shop Mystery Series which features, as its sleuth, a Florida souvenir shop owner. As Christy Evans she writes the Georgiana Neverall Mystery Series.

Janice Hamrick  Hamrick pens the Jocelyn Shore Mystery Series which is set in Austin, Texas. Jocelyn is a high school teacher/sleuth. Hamrick got her Bachelor’s in English, and has worked as a technical writer for a computer software company.

Sharon Love Cook, Lesley A. Diehl, William Doonan, & Annelise Ryan (aka Beth Amos) : Four Author Additions to the Cozy Mystery Site

January 5, 2012

I have added four new (to me!) authors to the site. I know I keep repeating this, but I want to remind you, these authors have been recommended as belonging on the Cozy Mystery site by some of you.

Sharon Love Cook writes the Rose McNichols Mystery Series, which features a newspaper reporter in a coastal village in New Hampshire.  Cook is also a newspaper columnist, who is an illustrator as well as a cartoonist.

Lesley A. Diehl has her Ph. D. in psychology, and has worked as both a professor and a university administrator. Diehl pens the Microbrewers Mystery Series, which features a master brewer as its sleuth. She also writes the Big Lake Mystery Series, which has as its sleuth, Emily Rhodes, a retired preschool teacher who takes up bartending (and sleuthing!) in Florida.

William Doonan is an anthropology professor who has worked as a cruise ship lecturer many times. Doonan writes the Henry Grave Mystery Series, which features an octogenarian who works as a senior cruise ship investigator.

Annelise Ryan (aka Beth Amos) is an emergency room nurse who writes a mystery series which revolves around an ex-nurse. The Mattie Winston Mystery Series is set in Wisconsin, and has her ex-nurse now working as a deputy coroner.

Laura DiSilverio, Mitzi Kelly, Cindy Sample, & Susan Santangelo : Four New Authors on the Cozy Mystery Site

November 15, 2011

I have just added four “new” authors to the Cozy Mystery site. All four of them have been recommended by site readers – as belonging on the site.

Laura DiSilverio  (aka Lila Dare & Ella Barrick) DiSilverio was an Air Force intelligence officer who went on to teach English at the Air Force Academy. She writes the Charlie Swift Mystery Series which features a former Air Force intelligence officer. DiSilverio also writes the Mall Cop Mystery Series which has, as its sleuth, a security officer at a mall in Virginia.

Mitzi Kelly   Kelly writes the Silver Sleuths Mystery Series which is set in Texas. The three senior citizen sleuths are: bossy Millie, nice Edna, and always-dieting Trish. These three ladies have a penchant for solving mysteries.

Cindy Sample   Sample writes the Laurel McKay Mystery Series. Laurel has recently gone through a divorce. She is now a single soccer mom living in California who works at a bank, and solves mysteries.

Susan Santangelo  Santangelo writes the Baby Boomer Mystery Series, which is set in Connecticut. Carol & Jim Andrews are recently retired baby boomers. They may have just retired, but they certainly aren’t slowing down – not when there are crimes to be solved!
