Upcoming Mysteries on Turner Classic Movies for November 2021

October 23, 2021

For all you football fans who happen to enjoy the Turner Classic Movies channel – Monday the first of November is your day! The Turner Classic channel will be showing long-ago movies that celebrate football in one form or another. (I haven’t listed those movies since I try to focus on mystery movies.) And, along those lines, who knew that Reno, Nevada was such a popular place in the 1940s? If you’re interested in Reno or in divorce-central movies, then Tuesday, Nov. 2 is your day on Turner! (I haven’t listed those movies either…) Tuesday, November 9 is a day I have to ignore Turner Classic Movies channel. It’s going to show movies that revolve around dogs – one of the types of movies I totally avoid! Animal movies are just too sentimental for me. (And this from a person who enjoys mysteries – which involve all sorts of terrible events!)

Wednesday, November 10 looks like an old-movies-mystery-lover’s day on the Turner Classic Movies channel! The day will start with different mystery movies and shorts and will then move into several Bull Drummond mystery movies.

The Turner Classic Movies channel will be airing all four of the Miss Marple movies in which Margaret Rutherford starred. These are loosely based on Agatha Christie’s novels, which of course were not comedies! The channel is showing the movies out-of-sequence, so in case you want to watch the movies in sequence: “Murder, She Said” (1961), “Murder at the Gallop” (1963), “Murder Most Foul” (1964), and “Murder Ahoy!” (1964).

Two of the Nancy Drew movies starring Bonita Granville will play this month. On Monday, November 8 >>> “Nancy Drew and the Hidden Staircase” (1939) and on Monday, November 29 >>> “Nancy Drew: Detective” (1938). I think Bonita Granville is excellent playing the Nancy Drew we grew up with!

Hallmark Movies & Mysteries AND Hallmark Channels Christmas Lists for the 2021 Holiday Season

October 20, 2021

Christmas is upon us… at least on the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries channel! Yep! It’s that time of year — again! I know a lot of you are probably sighing and saying “Danna, it’s not even Halloween yet! Enjoy autumn! Why are you rushing us?” And to that question I will answer: I have already seen a Christmas advertisement on television… and that’s with me fast-forwarding during the ads… I can only imagine how many other Christmas ads I miss with my click, click, clicking thumb!

As you may already know, I write an entry every month telling you about the Cozy Mystery movies that the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries channel will be airing during that particular month. Also, if you use my monthly entries, you know that the Hallmark channels don’t like to post their schedules for more than (something like) three weeks at a time. This is the first time (out of several years that I have been doing the Christmas entries) that I have not been able to track down the entire schedules. However, what I can tell you is that the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries channel will be premiering all of the NEW Christmas movies on Saturday nights (at 9:00) and the Hallmark channel will be premiering all of their NEW Christmas movies on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights (at 7:00). So, watch for those! That’s right: Saturday night will be a double-feature! So be sure to set your DVRs for both channels on Saturday!

Hallmark Movies & Mysteries Channel Cozy Mystery Movies – October 2021

October 1, 2021

Uh, oh, I am just starting to do the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries channel’s October 2021 list, and I haven’t come across any new Cozy Mystery movies yet. However, there will be a sprinkling of reruns of the channel’s Cozy Mystery movies throughout the month. And, of course, they will be showing reruns of television mystery shows (Monk, Magnum, P.I., Diagnosis Murder, and Murder, She Wrote) and a lot of romantic movies.

It looks like Friday, October 22 is the channel’s kick-off day for their Christmas movies. There will actually be a Christmas movie premiere on Saturday, October 23, 2021. Christmas in My Heart stars Heather Hemmens, Luke McFarlane, Sheryl Lee Ralph – and will involve preparing for a holiday concert.
