Cozy Mystery Book Recommendations – June 2016

June 28, 2016

It’s the end of the month, which means it’s the time I ask you about your favorite Cozy reads of the month. I know summer is a hectic time of year, but I’m guessing all of us make time to read our Cozy Mysteries. I wish I could say that I have been reading outside, while enjoying the summer breeze, but since the heat index has been over 100° several days down here in San Antonio, I’ve been reading inside with the air conditioner cranked up.

I just started reading a new-to-me author who self-publishes her Cozies, and I’m enjoying her a lot. I am hoping that I will be able to recommend her next month, but I don’t want to recommend her now since I don’t know if I’m going to continue enjoying her as much as I’m currently enjoying her.

As those of you who follow this site know, earlier this month I posted entries about Lorna Barrett’s Booktown Mystery Series and Lea Wait’s Mainely Needlepoint Mystery Series. If you’re interested in seeing those posts, you can find links to them on the Most Popular & Recommended Cozy Mystery Series page of the site.

How about you? Are there any Cozy Mysteries that you’ve read this month the you thought were way better than the rest of this month’s Cozies? If so, would you please tell us about these really good Cozies and why you liked them so much? Most of us are always looking for new-to-us Cozy Mystery authors to add to our favorite authors list! We’d love to hear about the Cozy Mysteries you especially liked, so that we (too) can read them. (If you have a lot of Cozies you think are terrific, would you post the ones you think are even better than the others at the top of the list?)

As usual, please do not tell us about the Cozy Mysteries you did not like.

What really good Cozy Mystery book did you read during June 2016 that you want the rest of us to know about, and why did you enjoy it?

Cozy Mystery Book Recommendations – May 2016

May 30, 2016

This month my recommendation is Kylie Logan‘s Mayhem at the Orient Express – the first book in her League of Literary Ladies Mystery Series. This is a fun page-turner. I really enjoy the relationships between the members of the “League” who solve the murder. I also like the small town setting >>> on a small island in Lake Erie. Added to the small-town ambiance is that this is a mystery that takes place in an isolated “nobody in/nobody out” setting. Kylie Logan writes well-differentiated, life-like characters. This Cozy harkens back to classic Agatha Christie’s mysteries with the isolated setting and the many characters with motives, means, and opportunities to commit the crime.

Have you read any Cozies this month that you thought were a lot better than the rest of the Cozies you read this month? If so, would you please tell us about these really good Cozies and why you liked them so much? We’d love to know about the Cozy Mysteries you especially liked, so that we (too) can read them. Cozy Mystery Book Recommendations – April 2016

April 28, 2016

I am enjoying both of the books I’m reading right now so much! I’m listening to one of Ruth Rendell‘s Inspector Wexford mysteries, and as usual, it is a terrific read! Any time I open one of her mysteries, I know I’m in for a real treat! I simply love her books! Inspector Wexford and the rest of the characters are truly written in 3-D form. Rendell is a superb story teller and can be found on both of these very prestigious lists: Crime Writers’ Association Top 100 Crime Novels of All Time AND Mystery Writers of America Top 100 Crime Novels of All Time.

As for my “real” reading >>> I’ve veered off the Cozy Mystery road and am reading one of Ann Rule‘s true crime novels. Yow! I also love her books, so I’m in a type of euphoric reading mode!

(If you have a lot of Cozies you think are terrific, would you post the ones you think are even better than the others at the top of the list?)

As usual, please do not tell us about the Cozy Mysteries you did not like.
