Christmas Mystery Book List…

December 12, 2010

I recently updated my Christmas Mystery Book List, and while doing so, I noticed that there are A LOT of Christmas Mystery books (as well as a few Hanukkah Mystery books, and New Year’s Eve Mystery books) available for all of us to enjoy. But with so many books on the list, I started thinking that perhaps there are so many Christmas Mystery books listed that it is difficult to decide which one to read next.

So, it’s time for another question for you all:

If you had to pick just a few of your favorite Christmas Mystery books, which would they be?

Thanksgiving Mystery Books…

November 3, 2010

I am currently reading Kate Borden‘s Death of a Turkey, which is reminding me of just how neat living in a small hometown can be. Of course, it is also reminding me that not all of the goings-on in a small town are “good, clean fun”… especially when there is a murderer in your midst.

I am again asking for help in updating my seasonal book lists. I recently updated my Thanksgiving Mystery Books theme page, and hope I didn’t miss any new mystery books that take place during that holiday. (I know there are a lot of Cozy Mystery site readers who don’t live in the USA, so please bare with me…) If you happen to notice that I am missing a book, would you please post a comment. Thank you!

Playing Catch-Up with Camille Minichino… aka Gearing Up for My Holiday Cozy Mystery Reading…

October 12, 2010

“I am currently reading Joanne Fluke’s Apple Turnover Murder (re-reading it to get my gear up for her next Christmas themed murder book.)”

Anita posted this comment on September 26, 2010. Well, Anita, I am doing the very same thing. I am gearing up for my holiday theme mysteries, and in doing so, I am finally reading some of the books that I have been “saving” for just this time of year. And by this I don’t mean that I am actually reading holiday-theme Cozies, but rather, I am reading the books that come before them… in preparation for the actual holiday Cozies.

As some of you may know, I am a huge fan of Camille Minichino‘s Periodic Table Mystery Series. The thing that first piqued my interest for this series is that it has a really strong, VERY smart woman as the main sleuth.

Gloria Lamerino (the sleuth) is a physicist who returns to her home town near Boston. Gloria, a consultant, works closely (yes, by this I mean she is employed… and also develops a romantic relationship) with one of the police detectives. Gloria’s main purpose is to explain the scientific data that the police need to know when some of their cases involve >>> scientific data. Of course, since Gloria is wonderful example of a Cozy Mystery sleuth… she doesn’t stop at just helping the police with the scientific details!

The Helium Murder (the second book in the series) is set during the Christmas season, as is The Oxygen Murder (the last book in the series.) But, since I only read Christmas themed books during the holiday season, I knew that I wouldn’t be reading this particular Cozy Mystery until December. And, since I was just about “caught-up” with Gloria’s exploits, and didn’t want that much time to lapse between the books in the series, I decided I wouldn’t read the preceding book in the series (The Nitrogen Murder) until now.

Long story, made even longer than I could have imagined: I am currently beginning The Nitrogen Murder so that I will “be ready” for The Oxygen Murder‘s Christmas themed setting. And, I am truly looking forward to both Cozies!

Anita, I know exactly what you mean!

Halloween Theme Mystery Books… Do I Have Them All?

September 3, 2010

OK, OK, I know it’s not officially autumn yet, but I think that someone somehow got the seasons all wrong. I know that fall doesn’t begin until September 22 this year, but as far as I am concerned, autumn should begin at the very beginning of September and continue until the very beginning of December. But, that’s just my opinion!

I have been trying to update the Holiday Mystery Book section of the Cozy Mystery site, and I think I’m pretty much done with Halloween’s list. I would, however, not be upset if some of you know of some Halloween mysteries that I have missed.

For those of you who have been with the site for a while, you probably already know that I don’t only include Cozy Mystery Halloween books on this particular list. I would greatly appreciate it if, when you have the time, you would take a look at the Halloween Theme Mystery Books list and let me know of any exclusions on my part.

I try to update all of the seasonal mystery book lists each year as the different holidays approach, but some years I do the updating in a more timely fashion than other years. This year I met my goal!

Anyway… if you see any Halloween Theme Mystery Books that I am missing, please post a comment and I will try to add the book as soon as possible. Thanks!
