Four New Cozy Mystery Series Coming March 2018

February 4, 2018

We’ll have a lot of new Cozy Mystery series starting in March! Four in fact, so we’ll get right to it…

First up, Cynthia Baxter will be releasing Murder With a Cherry On Top, the first in the Lickety Splits Mystery Series. Kate McKay is returning from her big job in the big city as a Manhattanite lawyer to return to her Hudson Valley hometown of Wolfort’s Rest to care for her ill grandmother. Fortunately, it does give her an opportunity to open her dream store, an ice cream store she names Lickety Splits Ice Cream Shoppe. Unfortunately, it reunites her with an old high school rival, who now sells frozen treats as well – and unsurprisingly turns up dead soon after! Cynthia Baxter also writes the Reigning Cats & Dogs Mystery Series, the Murder Packs a Suitcase Mystery Series, and (as Cynthia Blair) the Pratt Twins Mystery Series.

Next, Lynn Cahoon will be starting the Farm-to-Fork Mystery Series, with the book Who Moved My Goat Cheese?. Angie Turner and her best friend Felicia are starting up a new farm-to-table restaurant in their rural hometown in Idaho, and one step in that is getting to know local farmers like old farmer Moss. But when Moss turns up dead, it will be up to Angie to make sure that the murder gets solved. Lynn Cahoon also writes the Tourist Trap Mystery Series and the Cat Latimer Mystery Series.

Kate Dyer-Seeley will be releasing the first in her Rose City Mystery Series, Natural Thorn Killer. Britta Johnston has left a useless husband and a dead-end job to pursue her artistic talents at her aunt’s floral shop in Portland, Oregon. When an unscrupulous real estate developer who has been buying up waterfront property turns up dead, it leaves many of her acquaintances as potential, including her aunt! She’ll need to find out who really dun-it to make sure her aunt doesn’t end up behind bars. Kate Dyer-Seeley also writes the Pacific Northwest Mystery Series, and (as Ellie Alexander) the Bakeshop Mystery Series and the Sloan Krause Mystery Series.

Finally, Nancy Herriman will be releasing Searcher of the Dead, the first in her Bess Ellyott Mystery Series. Elizabethan Londoner Bess Ellyott is an herbalist and widow who fled to the countryside after the murder of her husband. When her husband’s brother turns up dead as well – apparently suicide, though Bess knows better – she knows that the murders will continue until she can discover the true killer. Nancy Herriman also writes the Mystery of Old San Francisco Mystery Series.

For these upcoming series and more be sure to check out the New Cozy Mystery Book Series page.

Four New-to-the-Site Cozy Authors

January 27, 2018

I’m adding four more new authors to the site. As usual, these are authors I’ve heard of from visitors to the site, either through comments or by email.

Allison Brook is a former Spanish teacher who grew up in Brooklyn, New York, then Long Island, off the coast of New York. She has studied in Mexico and Spain to become fluent in Spanish, and has written in the genres of mysteries, romantic suspense, and young adult fiction. Her mystery series are the Haunted Library Mystery Series, and (under the name Marilyn Levinson) the Golden Age of Mystery Book Club Mystery Series and the Lydia Krause/Twin Lakes Mysteries.

Kellye Garrett has had a career working in Hollywood, including working as a production assistant for the TV series Angela’s Eyes and writing for the CBS show Cold Case. She has also been a magazine editor, and holds a B. S. in magazine writing from Florida A&M as well as an MFA in screenwriting from the University of South California. She currently lives in her home state of New Jersey, working in New York at a media company. Her mystery series, the Detective By Day Mystery Series, stars Dayna Anderson, a struggling Hollywood actress.

Melinda Mullet was born in Dallas, and has spent time in school in Texas, Washington D. C., England and Austria, pursuing a legal degree. She has spent many years as a practicing attorney before beginning her career as an author. She now lives near Washington, D. C. She writes the Whisky Business Mystery Series, starring a photojournalist who has inherited a whisky distillery in the Scottish Highlands.

Ashley Weaver has worked in libraries most of her life, serving as a page and a clerk before getting a MLIS (Master of Library and Information Science). She now serves as a branch manager at Oberlin, the headquarters of the Allen Parish Libraries in Louisiana. Her mystery series, the Amory Ames Mystery Series, stars a wealthy young woman in 1930s Britain.
