So, we know that Eveline is already aware of all of the Cadfael mystery books… But, do you all know about\u00a0any other historical\/period\u00a0mysteries with\u00a0old churches and abbeys as their setting?<\/p>\n
Nancy Bilyeau<\/strong> writes the Joanna Stafford Mystery Series<\/strong>\u00a0: 1) The Crown<\/a><\/em>, 2) The Chalice<\/a><\/em>, & 3) The Tapestry<\/a><\/em>. This series is set in Tudor England.<\/p>\n Kate Charles<\/strong><\/a> writes both the Book of Psalms Mystery Series<\/strong> and the Callie Anson Mystery Series<\/strong>. Both of them feature old churches.<\/p>\n G. K. Chesterton<\/strong><\/a> writes the Father Brown Mystery Series<\/strong>. They aren’t always set in a church, but they always star Father Brown.<\/p>\n John Meade Falkner<\/strong>, the son of an Anglican priest, has written two books in which old English churches are featured: Moonfleet<\/a> and The Nebuly Coat<\/a>.<\/p>\n Margaret Frazer<\/a> <\/strong>(aka Gail Frazer & Monica Ferris) writes the\u00a0Sister Frevisse Medieval Mystery Series<\/strong> which\u00a0takes place\u00a0in England, during the reign of Henry VI (1422-1461 & 1470-1471) While I am a big fan of the Monica Ferris Needlecraft Mystery Series, I have to admit that I haven’t read her Sister Frevisse mysteries… yet.<\/p>\n G. M. Malliet<\/strong><\/a> writes the Max Tudor Mystery Series<\/strong>. Max is the vicar of the Cozy millage\u00a0of Nether Monkslip<\/p>\n Donna McLean<\/strong> has A Distant Murder<\/a>, which is the first book in her Sparrow Falls Mystery Series. Although it is a contemporary mystery, it features an old church with its old Scottish burying ground.<\/p>\n C. J. Sansom<\/a><\/strong>: Dissolution<\/a>\u00a0is a Matthew Sharlake Mystery Series<\/strong> book which takes place during the time of Henry VIII.
