\"\"I recently updated my Cats are Cozy entry, so thought I should give the dogs in our lives equal time. I know that cats are typically what most of us think of when we think of a\u00a0“cozy animal”…\u00a0to go with the white-haired sleuth, no less! Gone are those days! Now we have young sleuths who manage their professions along with their family lives. But… I’m not going to be focusing on the sleuths… rather on their dogs. So, here are the site’s authors with dog themes in their mysteries.<\/p>\n

I will start out with the White House Pet Detectives<\/a><\/strong>: Tales of Crime and Mystery at the White House from a Pet’s Eye View. It is an anthology which was edited by Carole Nelson Douglas<\/a><\/strong>. In it, you will find stories by some of your favorite mystery authors.<\/p>\n

There are some veterinarians and veterinary technicians who have series all of their own! Dr. Nightingale is the veterinarian\u00a0 in the Deirdre Quinn Nightingale Mystery Series<\/strong> by\u00a0Lydia Adamson<\/a><\/strong>.\u00a0 And Karen Ann Wilson<\/a><\/strong> writes the\u00a0Samantha Holt Mystery Series<\/strong>. While Samantha is not a full-fledged veterinarian, she is a veterinary technician.<\/p>\n

Sparkle Abbey<\/a><\/strong>: Pampered Pet Mystery Series<\/strong><\/p>\n

Kristi Abbott<\/a><\/strong>: Gourmet Popcorn Shop Mystery Series <\/strong>(Sprocket is the sleuth’s Poodle)<\/p>\n

Laurien Berenson<\/a> <\/strong>writes the very popular cozy mystery series that features a Special Education teacher who participates in dog shows. (Melanie Travis Mystery Series<\/strong>)<\/p>\n

Bethany Blake<\/strong><\/a>: Lucky Paws Petsitting Mystery Series<\/strong><\/p>\n

Michael Bond<\/a><\/strong>‘s\u00a0Monsieur Pamplemousse Mystery Series<\/strong> has Pommes Frites, Monsieur’s dog. With a dog named French Fries, is it any wonder that Monsieur’s business is restaurants!?!<\/p>\n

Duffy Brown<\/strong><\/a> has a mutt named Bruce Willis in her Consignment Shop Mystery Series<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Rita Mae Brown<\/a><\/strong> fans know Tee Tucker (the Corgi) in her Mrs. Murphy Mystery Series<\/strong>. But a lot of us are just becoming aware of Brown’s new series about foxhunting… and could you ever “foxhunt” without the horses and\u00a0hounds?<\/p>\n

V.M. Burns<\/a>: Lilly Echosby Dog Club Mystery Series<\/strong> – Lilly is a recently divorced CPA who is a member of a dog club in Tennessee.<\/p>\n

Nancy Bush<\/a> <\/strong>writes the Jane Kelly Mystery Series<\/strong> which not only features Jane, but her Pug, The Binkster (aka Binks and Binkster)…<\/p>\n

Claudius, a Siberian Husky\/German Shepherd mix is Annie O’Hara’s sidekick in the mystery series that is written by Ann Campbell<\/a><\/strong>. Annie owns an antique shop, and Claudius owns Annie’s love and devotion! (Annie O’Hara & Claudius Mystery Series<\/strong>)<\/p>\n

Laura Childs<\/a> <\/strong>writes the Tea Shop Mystery Series<\/strong>, which is set in Charleston, South Carolina. And of course, Thea Browning’s dog’s name is Earl Gray.<\/p>\n

Edie Claire<\/a><\/strong> writes the Leigh Koslow Mystery Series<\/strong>. While Leigh is not a veterinarian, her father is. Every once in a while Leigh works as a tech at her dad’s office. Also, the second book\u00a0features a zoo vet and setting.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Melissa Cleary<\/a> <\/strong>cozy mystery series is known as the Dog Lovers Mystery Series<\/strong>, and features Jake, with his professor Jackie Walsh.<\/p>\n

Nancy Coco<\/a><\/strong> writes the Candy Coated Mystery Series<\/strong>, which stars Allie, and features her dog, Mal.<\/p>\n

Waverly Curtis<\/a> <\/strong>writes the Barking Detective Mystery Series<\/strong>, which features Pepe (along with his owner) who thinks of himself as “Chihuahua extraordinaire”.<\/p>\n

And no cozy mystery book list featuring dogs would be complete without\u00a0Susan Conant<\/a><\/strong>‘s\u00a0Holly Winter Mystery Series<\/strong>. Holly is a writer for Dog’s Life Magazine and also a dog trainer.<\/p>\n

Kathi Daley<\/a><\/strong>: Zoe Donovan Mystery Series<\/strong> – Zoe does her sleuthing with her dog, Charlie.<\/p>\n

Evelyn David<\/a><\/strong> is a pseudonym for two authors, one with a degree in Political Science and the other with a degree in Biology.\u00a0They write the Sullivan Investigations Mystery Series<\/strong> which features an ex-policeman and his\u00a0Irish Wolfhound (Whiskey) and a divorc\u00e9e mortician\u00a0 who sleuth together…<\/p>\n

Rae Davies<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0writes the\u00a0Dusty Deals Mystery Series<\/strong>, which features an Alaskan Malamut named Kiska.<\/p>\n

Krista Davis<\/a><\/strong>: Paws and Claws Mystery Series<\/strong><\/p>\n

Susan Furlong<\/a>: Bone Gap Travellers Mystery Series<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Brynn is an ex-Marine with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder who returns to Tennessee with her cadaver dog, Wilco.<\/p>\n

Patricia Guiver<\/a><\/strong> writes the Pet Detective Mystery Series<\/strong> which features Delilah Doolittle and her Doberman Pinscher, Watson, who helps her solve her cases.<\/p>\n

Sue Henry<\/a><\/strong>‘s first cozy series featured Jessie Arnold, a dog sled racer in Anchorage. She now has a new series about a widow in her 60s (Maxine McNab)\u00a0who travels in her RV, accompanied by her Mini Dachshund, who could only be called “Stretch!” (Maxie & Stretch Mystery Series<\/strong>)<\/p>\n

Gabriella Herkert<\/a><\/strong> writes the Animal Instinct Mystery Series<\/strong>, and her second book in that series features dogs.<\/p>\n

Marion Moore Hill<\/a> <\/strong>pens the Scrappy Librarian Mystery Series<\/strong>, which has the librarian and her collie\/mongrel, Rip…<\/p>\n

Suzette A. Hill<\/a> <\/strong>writes the Reverend Oughterard Mystery Series<\/strong>.\u00a0Bouncer (his dog) and Maurice (his cat) enjoy the British village life, even with all of the mysteries to solve…<\/p>\n

Dana Stabenow<\/a>‘<\/strong>s\u00a0Kate Shugak\u00a0mystery series\u00a0has Mutt, a half-wolf\/half Husky playing second fiddle to\u00a0 Kate, an ex-investigator and current sleuth, in Alaska. (Kate Shugak Mystery Series<\/strong>)<\/p>\n
